(b. 1996, Nicosia, Cyprus) likens the camera to a mirror for vision, exploring the potential of the photographic medium through autobiography and perception. Employing macro lenses, mirrors, and optical devices, Mavrokordatou produces fragmented images that evoke the intimacy and uncertainty of seeing. The camera becomes a tool through which external observation and internal experience converge, revealing ways of seeing that might otherwise remain hidden. Often revisiting the same subjects, Mavrokordatou attributes significance to the gaps or spaces in between, the clicking of the projector or the shutter of the camera. The fragmented, sequential nature of the images allows them to exist somewhere between stillness and movement.
